TripleW is a fast growing company with an international presence. The company develops highly scalable solutions for upcycling food waste and produces pure lactic acid, made entirely from renewable carbon, with a major positive impact on climate change. Lactic acid is the key building block for the production of PLA bioplastic, and for a wide range of green chemicals. The company operates a demonstration plant in the Port of Antwerp, and currently has an opening for an enthusiastic: Analytical Chemist – R&D Job Summary The Analytical Chemist will support the development and scale-up of processes that convert food waste and agri-food by-products into lactic acid and related value-added chemicals. Working within a circular-economy framework, the role focuses on advanced analytical testing, method development, and data interpretation for complex biological and waste-derived matrices. The position plays a key role in supporting R&D, Operations, and Sales with robust analytical data and technical insights. Key Responsibilities Perform qualitative and quantitative analysis of food waste feedstocks, fermentation broths, intermediates, and purified lactic acid using HPLC, GC, ICP, and spectrophotometric techniques. Execute hands-on sample preparation including filtration, extraction, dilution, digestion, and derivatization for complex organic and inorganic matrices. Develop, optimize, and validate analytical methods Support process development and optimization by providing timely analytical feedback to fermentation and downstream processing teams. Monitor batch-to-batch variability of waste-derived feedstocks and assess impact on process performance. Provide analytical and technical support to Sales and Operations, including customer specifications, product qualification, and sustainability-related data requests. Assist with scale-up activities by transferring analytical methods from lab to pilot and production environments. Ensure compliance with laboratory safety standards, internal quality systems, and good laboratory practices (GLP). Maintain analytical instruments, calibration routines, and consumables inventory. Required Qualifications Bachelor's or Master's degree in Analytical Chemistry, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field. Hands-on experience with: HPLC (organic acids, sugars, fermentation products); GC (volatile compounds, by-products); ICP (trace metals, inorganic contaminants); spectrophotometric techniques (UV-Vis). Strong practical experience in sample preparation and method development. Ability to work with complex, variable, and biologically derived samples. Preferred Skills and Experience Experience in bioprocessing, fermentation analytics, or food/agro-industrial waste streams. Knowledge of analytical method validation and robustness testing. Experience supporting pilot or industrial-scale operations. Interest in sustainability, circular economy, and waste valorization. Strong communication skills for collaboration with multidisciplinary teams. What We Offer A full-time position in a young, fast growing and innovative company. An excellent salary package, including a company car. Personal development through internal and external trainings, where needed or desired.
