The Technical Department

The Technical Department is a vital department responsible for ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of our diverse fleet of vessels. Our talented team plays a crucial role in upholding the highest standards of safety, reliability, and efficiency in maritime operations. What You will Do

The Fleet Manager provides operation management services to a fleet of ships under charge to ensure they run in a safe manner as required by AE (Antwerp), and the running costs for all the vessels are within the budget allocated by the ship owners.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Monitor and interact with superintendents, ship owners, and internal departments, on day-to-day operational matters concerning the ships under charge. Make sure the ships operate within the budget.
  • Provide guidance to the superintendents and the shipboard team to facilitate their work.
  • Supervise vessel’s maintenance and day-to-day running, review ship inspection / audit / environmental inspection reports / incident reports for vessels and discuss with Vessel Managers on the working plan for areas of concern and work for improvement.
  • Review financial budgets from Vessel Managers and provide financial and technical feedback to Owner under guidance of the Fleet Director. Discuss with FD and owners in case the costs are expected to exceed the budget.
  • Miscellaneous works:

-Plan shipboard visits of vessel managers for inspection.

-Plan dry docking and repairs in conjunction with vessel managers.

-Make shipboard visit during the dry dock for review of work being performed when the technicality of the job or experience level of the attending VM requires so.

-Review senior officer appointments on board and participate in their briefing during visit to Antwerp office prior to joining the ship.

  • Ensures operation of vessel in compliance with company SMS, international regulations, codes and guidance as applicable.
  • Takes up the job of Vessel Manager for a number of vessels.


What We Are Looking For:

Education:

  • To have Chief Engineer’s or Master’s (F.G.) Certificate of Competency.
  • Degree / Diploma holder in Naval Architecture or Electromechanical Engineering.

Experience:

  • Min 2 years’ experience as Chief Engineer of OSVs or as Project Engineer on offshore assets
  • Min 5 years’ experience as Vessel Manager in charge of vessels or as offshore installation manager
  • Min 10 years’ experience in a Ship Management Company or in offshore asset management

Specific Business Knowledge: Diesel-Electric Power plants, Offshore Service Vessels, Dynamic Positioning, Mission Equipment Packages such as Motion Compensated Cranes and Gangways, Lay Spreads etc.
