What We Can Achieve Together The Finance Specialist provides highly specialized finance, accounting, and private award -related support to programs of the Caribbean Division. They provide specialized services in accounting, financial management and reporting, private grants administration, or similar financial activities for programs across the Caribbean Division. This includes supporting the development of project budgets, tracking and analyzing actuals and variances, maintaining and supporting accounting activities and system processes, and preparing a variety of financial reports for staff and donors. They have a high level of expertise in their area of specialization and provide support to staff in their specialty area. The position administers and maintains finance/accounting activities in accordance with TNC policies and procedures and best practices in financial management. They respond to moderately complex financial questions and issues based on advanced knowledge of subject area. The Finance Specialist reports to Division Finance Director for the Caribbean. Experience with accounting/financial issues and analysis. Experience using accounting and financial reporting systems. Experience with GAAP or International Accounting Standards and fund accounting principles, practices, and regulations. Communicates clearly via written, spoken, and graphical means in English. Experience with fiscal requirements in one or more countries in the Caribbean. Technical command of spreadsheet programs, general ledger reports and financial management tools. Ability to manipulate, analyze, and interpret data. Desired Qualifications Multi-lingual skills and/or multi-cultural experience appreciated. Proficiency in Spanish Advanced expertise in Microsoft Excel. Strong organizational skills. Accuracy, attention to detail and the ability to multi-task. Service oriented. Ability to effectively and sensitively interact with all levels of staff, partners, and vendors. Non-profit accounting experience. May require technical expertise on complex accounting/financial issues. US government grants accounting experience is a plus. Salary Information This position may be based in any country where the Caribbean Division of The Nature Conservancy has an established entity, taking into consideration legal restrictions, such as non-national ratios. The starting pay range for this position is generally within the range of the equivalent in local currency of USD $30,000 - $60,000 for annual base salary and is based on location, qualifications, specific skills, and experience. The pay will be in local currency and the pay range will be based on the local labor market. Your geographic location will be confirmed during the recruitment and used to determine your actual pay range. Additionally, for all applicants, actual pay will fall within a range based on a variety of factors including, for example, the candidate's qualifications, specific skills, and experience.
