insight and clear purpose. Partnering closely across internal teams and external partners, the Public Affairs team builds strategic relationships with governments, regulators, NGOs, communities and trade associations. Their mission is to unlock business opportunities, mitigate risk and shape policies that help sustain ELC's leadership in prestige beauty.
About the role
As Public Affairs Senior Manager Europe, UK and Emerging Markets, you will help drive and implement the company's public affairs strategy to advance ELC's position and interests. You will serve as a trusted advisor, translating complex policy developments into actionable insights and fostering meaningful dialogue between internal stakeholders and key external decision-makers. This role calls for a highly motivated, entrepreneurial professional who combines subject-matter expertise with strong project leadership skills. A deep understanding of the political, social and economic dynamics of the region, as well as fluency in the workings of the European Union, is essential.
Main responsibilities will include:
Design and implement public affairs strategies aligned with business objectives and reputation prioritiesLead advocacy efforts on priority issues impacting the business (e.g. ingredient and product-related legislation)Support executive-level engagement, preparing briefs, talking points and stakeholder mapping for high-level meetingsBuild and maintain relationships with key external stakeholders, including government officials, regulators, NGOs and trade associationsProvide strategic counsel to senior leadership on public affairs matters, including reputational risk, policy trends, and stakeholder dynamics.Lead cross-functional collaboration with internal teams (Legal, Regulatory, Communications, Sustainability, etc.) to ensure alignment and consistency in external positioningMonitor and analyse political, regulatory and socio-economic developments across relevant jurisdictions, providing timely insights and strategic guidance to internal stakeholdersContribute to social impact programs, enhancing corporate reputation and driving external thought leadershipManage consultants, agencies and internal resources to deliver high-impact outcomes on key advocacy campaigns and regulatory initiativesProfessional qualifications
Master's degree in European affairs, European law, Political Science or a scientific background e.g. toxicologist, eco-toxicologist. 5-10 years of experience in EU public affairs, with deep expertise in ingredient and product-related legislation and a strong track record in stakeholder engagement and regulatory advocacyThorough understanding of EU legislative processes, with the ability to identify and communicate implications relevant to corporate interestsProven track record in designing and delivering impactful public affairs strategies across complex policy landscapesEffective multitasker, capable of managing concurrent projects collaboratively and driving timely, high-quality outcomesExcellent written and verbal communication skills in English; fluency in an additional European language is a distinct assetPersonal Qualities and Attributes
