Our client, a leading Belgian distributor in the professional building materials and tools sector (80 employees, 45,000 SKUs, 3 sites), is seeking an experienced Purchasing Manager (Directeur Achats Ad-Interim) to lead and structure its procurement function during a transition period. You will manage a team of 4 buyers and play a key role in ensuring operational continuity, supplier performance, and cost optimisation while preparing the ground for a future permanent appointment. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage a team of 4 buyers Negotiate supplier contracts (pricing, volumes, commercial terms) Oversee stock planning and availability across multiple retail sites Monitor supplier performance (quality, delivery, margin impact) Optimise procurement processes and ERP data management Act as a strong interface between Purchasing, Sales and General Management Must-Have Profile Proven purchasing experience in retail / B2C distribution (multi-site environment preferred) Strong negotiator with hands-on operational mindset Experience managing and coaching teams Bilingual French/Dutch Comfortable operating in a transformation context Practical Details Start: ASAP 3 sites in Belgium - Brussels, Court-St-Etienne, and Liège We are seeking a pragmatic, structured, and results-driven professional who can combine operational excellence with effective team leadership.
