Social Media Producer


Reporting to: Head of Audience and Content – World Horse Racing
Location: Hong Kong
Type: Freelance/Full Time Contract
Salary: Dependent on experience
World Horse Racing (WHR) is seeking a Hong Kong–based Social Media Producer to lead delivery of the HKJC International Jockeys Social Media Programme, while supporting WHR's wider Hong Kong and global social output.
The role is primarily focused on managing, producing and growing social content for a select group of international jockeys based in Hong Kong, with the aim of celebrating Hong Kong racing through an international lens and increasing the global profile of the jockeys involved.
Key Responsibilities:
HKJC International Jockeys Social Media Programme (≈70%)
Act as the day-to-day WHR lead for the HKJC International Jockeys Social Media Programme
Manage social media accounts and produce content for the international jockeys of the HKJC, including publishing, optimisation and community management whenever appropriate and based on whoever is available.
Work with internal HKJC and WHR teams to review the programme and recommend ways to grow the collective impact of international jockeys on social media
Provide one-to-one support and coaching to jockeys on content creation, platform best practice and personal brand development
Plan and deliver quarterly content capture days (4 per year), including shoot planning, logistics and on-the-ground production
Capture additional content across race days, training environments and ad-hoc filming requests
Collaborate with WHR editors and designers to deliver high-quality, social-first video and graphic content
Produce monthly content plans and contribute to quarterly reporting and insights for the programme
Identify opportunities to broaden reach through collaborations, trends and paid media support (in line with WHR and HKJC guidance)
World Horse Racing – Hong Kong coverage (≈20%)
Create and publish social-first content showcasing Hong Kong racing for WHR's global channels
Attend race meetings and key moments to capture culturally relevant, behind-the-scenes content
Work closely with the global WHR team to align Hong Kong output with international storytelling and campaigns
Wider WHR social media support (≈10%)
Support WHR's broader social media operations when required, including content capture, publishing and ideation
Contribute ideas, formats and regional insight that can be scaled across WHR's global platforms
Skills & experience
Essential
Proven experience in social media production and publishing, ideally within sport, entertainment or creator-led content
Strong understanding of Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and X
Confident capturing content in fast-paced, live environments
Excellent communication skills and ability to work autonomously within a global, remote team
Strong knowledge of horse racing (Hong Kong racing experience highly advantageous)
Desirable
Experience working with talent or athletes, with strong relationship-management skills
Video editing experience (Adobe Premiere Pro) and basic design skills
Experience using social analytics and reporting tools
Familiarity with paid social and audience growth strategies
Personal attributes

Confident communicator, able to work directly with high-profile talent and stakeholders
International outlook with cultural sensitivity and strong editorial judgement

The HKJC International Jockeys Social Media Programme is a unique World Horse Racing initiative delivered in partnership with the Hong Kong Jockey Club, focused on telling the story of Hong Kong racing through the personalities of its international jockeys.
The programme gives selected jockeys hands-on support to build their social media presence, combining original content production, race-day access and ongoing guidance to help them connect with fans locally and around the world. For the Social Media Producer, this means working closely with elite athletes in one of the world's most prestigious racing environments, capturing authentic behind-the-scenes moments and shaping social content that reaches a truly global audience.
