IT Quality Specialist

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Responsible for defining, implementing, and improving standards, processes, and quality assurance practices throughout the lifecycle of applications and systems. Ensures the planning and execution of functional, non-functional, and acceptance testing; validates that solutions meet business requirements; monitors defects and metrics to drive continuous improvement in IT products, services, and processes. Works closely with business analysts, developers, system administrators, vendors, and key users to ensure IT deliverables comply with specifications, applicable regulations, and organizational goals.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Performs risk-based planning, designs test cases focused on acceptance criteria and representative data and execute manual and automated tests in controlled environments. Manages test data and environments, and ensures adequate test coverage including smoke, regression, and non-functional testing where applicable.
Maintains a Requirements Traceability Matrix (RTM) that links stories/epics with test cases and results, ensuring that no critical item goes unvalidated. Confirms compliance with exit criteria (coverage, critical/closed defects, evidence) and manages the sign-off document prior to go-live.
Performs quality assessments on requirements documents.
Aligns expectations through early reviews of requirements and designs, functional demonstrations, and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) preparation/support. Promotes fast feedback cycles to ensure business value and achieve formal acceptance.
Analyzes functional and technical specifications, architecture, data models, and interfaces to anticipate quality risks and design effective tests. Identifies dependencies, assumptions, and constraints that impact the testing approach.
Provides timely visibility through dashboards and reports tailored to the audience (executive vs. operational), highlighting progress, quality, risks, and required decisions. Issues go/no-go recommendations supported by data.
Evaluates configurations, compatibilities, and integrations of acquired products (COTS/SaaS) by validating enabled functionality, limitations, and performance. Conducts fit-gap, security, and performance testing, and document findings for vendors.
Promotes a quality-driven culture through communities of practice, training sessions, and peer reviews of requirements, designs, code, and test cases. Standardizes best practices and shares lessons learned.
Provides recommendations for improvement of applications to programmers and software developers.
Communicates test progress, test results, and other relevant information to project stakeholders and management.
Ensures that testing activities allow applications to meet business requirements and systems goals, fulfill end user requirements, and identify existing or potential issue.
Must comply fully and consistently with all company policies and procedures, with local and federal laws as well as with the regulations applicable to our Industry, to maintain appropriate business and employment practices.
May carry out other duties and responsibilities as assigned, according to the requirements of education and experience contained in this document.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. At least two (2) years of experience executing similar tasks such as performance testing, automated testing tools, data quality assurance, and reporting software.

Certifications / Licenses: At least one of the following certifications is preferred: Professional in Business Analysis (PMI-PBA), Entry Certificate in Business Analysis (ECBA), Certification of Capability in Business Analysis (CCBA) or Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP).
