Your role

As a
Manager of Operational and Permanent Control
, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and safeguarding the organization's control environment. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and continuously enhancing the permanent control framework, ensuring it aligns with internal policies and regulatory expectations.

You will act as a trusted advisor to management, supporting them in fulfilling their control responsibilities and driving a strong risk culture across the business. Your role will also involve leading a small team of approximately four people, guiding them in the execution of control activities, monitoring action plans, and promoting best practices.

You will be expected to:

  • Foster risk awareness and governance excellence, including incident management and reporting.
  • Coordinate with internal audit and second-line functions to ensure consistency and transparency.
  • Develop your team's autonomy and expertise, encouraging ownership and continuous improvement.
  • Engage with local and international stakeholders, contributing to group-wide initiatives and harmonization efforts.

This is a strategic and hands-on role, ideal for someone who combines leadership, precision, and a consultative mindset with a deep understanding of operational risk and control dynamics.

Your tasks

  • Ensure the effectiveness of the Permanent Control system
    , in line with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Design, implement, and continuously improve
    methodologies and best practices for Permanent Control.
  • Define, coordinate, and monitor action plans and corrective measures
    , ensuring timely execution and follow-up.
  • Analyze operational risks
    , report findings and recommendations to senior management, and contribute to incident management.
  • Support internal audits
    , including preparation, coordination, and follow-up on audit recommendations.
  • Consolidate and coordinate reporting
    across business units, ensuring data accuracy and consistency.
  • Coach and support staff
    involved in Permanent Control activities, fostering a strong risk culture.
  • Lead a small team
    , ensuring performance, development, and alignment with control objectives.
  • Collaborate with local and international stakeholders
    , including Compliance, Legal, CSR, and ICT, within the BNP Paribas Group.
  • Act as a key partner in governance and risk awareness
    , including facilitating Risk and Control Self-Assessments (RCSA).
  • Organize training and awareness sessions
    to promote control culture across the organization.
  • Prepare and lead monthly control meetings
    with business managers and contribute to strategic steering.

  • Precision & Analytical Thinking
    – You work with accuracy and a strong eye for detail, and can analyze complex data to present clear, actionable conclusions.
  • Relationship Management
    – You build and maintain strong professional relationships across departments and geographies.
  • Consultative Approach
    – You act as a trusted advisor to management and stakeholders, providing guidance on risk and control matters.
  • Communication Skills
    – You communicate clearly and effectively with all levels of the organization, including senior management and external auditors.
  • Project & Change Management
    – You are comfortable managing cross-functional initiatives and driving change in a structured way.
  • Language Skills
    – Fluency in English and one local language (French or Dutch) is required.
