Mechanical Project Engineer

Context :

Context Join a major Belgian energy operator and European transmission system operator on a landmark offshore grid expansion. The project aims to extend the offshore high-voltage grid to connect new wind farms, contributing to a safer, greener and more reliable energy supply across Belgium and Europe. You will work alongside Contingent Workers and internal teams in a multidisciplinary environment, helping to advance the energy transition with a focus on innovation, collaboration, and inclusion.

Your responsabilities :

  • Support and report to the AC Substation Package Manager within a multidisciplinary team (mechanical, electrical, instrumentation & SCADA, quality, HSE, contracting, PMO).
  • Be responsible for all mechanical systems within the AC substations, including:

Firefighting systems, HVAC systems, Cranes and lifting equipment, Water systems

  • Review and approve technical documentation and participate in Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT).
  • Provide engineering support to construction teams and ensure effective interfaces between design, fabrication (steel modules), and on-site assembly.
  • Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to ensure compliance with standards, cost targets, and project schedule.
  • Monitor deliverables, risk, and change management; maintain clear and regular reporting to the project team.

Your Profile :

  • Minimum 6 years of relevant experience on EPC/EPCIC projects; offshore experience is a plus.
  • Degree in Electromechanical or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems in offshore substations (HVAC, firefighting, cranes and lifting equipment, water systems).
  • Proficient in MS Office; ability to read, interpret, and review mechanical drawings and specifications.
  • Familiarity with relevant engineering standards and safety practices.
  • Structured, independent, and precise working style with a proactive mindset.
  • English fluency required; Dutch is a plus.

Additional Information

  • Location/Work arrangement: Belgium-based; on-site involvement with flexibility for project needs (hybrid/remote aspects to be defined)
  • Travel: Occasional site visits or supplier/factory assessments as required
