HR Business Partner


About the Role

IQGeo is seeking a proactive and strategic HR Business Partner (HRBP) to work closely with managers and teams across the organisation. The HRBP acts as a trusted advisor to business leaders, providing guidance on people-related matters, supporting workforce management, organisational performance, and driving employee engagement, development, and culture initiatives.

This role is a combination of hard and soft HR, and bridges operational HR delivery and strategic people initiatives. The HRBP ensures HR policies and practices are applied consistently, workforce plans are aligned to business objectives, and employee experience is prioritised, while supporting change and continuous improvement.

What You'll Do

Business Partnering & Strategic HR:

  • Partner with managers and business leaders to understand organisational goals, challenges, and workforce requirements
  • Provide advice and coaching on performance management, succession planning, talent management, and organisational development
  • Contribute to workforce planning and capacity analysis to ensure teams are resourced effectively
  • Collaborate with managers to support the planning and execution of strategic HR initiatives.

Employee Relations & People Advisory:

  • Act as a first point of contact for complex employee relations matters; provide guidance, coach managers, and escalate as appropriate
  • Support managers in handling performance, conduct, and absence issues using fair and consistent processes
  • Apply employment law, policies, and best practice to advise managers while mitigating organisational risk

Talent, Learning & Development:

  • Identify learning and development needs in partnership with managers and employees
  • Facilitate or coordinate programmes to enhance skills, performance, and career development
  • Support succession planning, high-potential talent identification, and retention strategies

Employee Experience & Engagement:

  • Drive initiatives that enhance employee engagement, motivation, and workplace culture
  • Support programmes promoting inclusion, wellbeing, and positive working relationships
  • Act as a visible HR advocate within the business to foster a supportive and productive environment

HR Operations & Compliance:

  • Partner with the wider HR function and operational teams to ensure smooth delivery of HR processes, including recruitment, payroll, onboarding, offboarding, and benefits administration
  • Monitor local compliance and ensure HR policies, procedures, and standards are applied consistently
  • Maintain confidentiality and act as a trusted advisor to both managers and employees

Data, Insights & Continuous Improvement:

  • Analyse HR metrics, trends, and workforce data to provide actionable insights and recommendations to business leaders
  • Support HR team in organisational change initiatives and process improvement projects
  • Identify opportunities for improved ways of working, efficiency, and business alignment

Collaboration & Influence:

  • Build effective relationships with managers and employees across functions, influencing decisions and outcomes
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure HR initiatives support organisational objectives
  • Act as a role model for professional HR practice and ethical behaviour

What You'll Bring

  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills; able to influence and coach managers effectively
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Sound knowledge of HR principles, employment law, and best practice
  • Experience in workforce planning, performance management, employee relations, and talent development
  • Ability to analyse data and provide evidence-based recommendations
  • Strong problem-solving, conflict resolution, and decision-making skills
  • Organisational and project management skills; able to prioritise multiple initiatives
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and HRIS systems
  • Desirable: confidential counsellor (\"vertrouwenspersoon\") certification

Education & Qualifications

  • 3–5 years' HR experience is typically indicative of success, ideally combining operational HR and strategic business engagements.
  • Previous professional/formal training and experience in HR. (Samples of formal training that lead to success in this role may include a Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or Business Administration, and certifications (such as CIPD or SHRM) or related experience).
  • Previous experience as an HR Officer, HR Generalist, or similar role is advantageous

Location / Work Arrangement

  • This a hybrid role based out of our Ghent office, offering a blend of office presence and remote work depending on business needs.
  • Occasional travel may be required to support multiple locations, recruitment, or business initiatives.
