Call for Application: Advocacy Officer (f/m/x)
Full-time | Location : Brussels, Belgium
The European Society of Radiology (ESR) is seeking a proactive and strategic Advocacy Officer
to enhance its presence in Brussels and deepen engagement with EU institutions and
stakeholders. This role is central to supporting ESR’s efforts to shape European healthcare
policy in the field of medical imaging.
Responsibilities
• Policy Monitoring & Analysis: Monitor EU legislative and policy developments relevant
to healthcare and radiology. Provide timely insights and policy analysis to support ESR
advocacy strategies.
• Advocacy Strategy Development: Design and implement advocacy initiatives.
Contribute to the overall strategic direction of ESR’s EU engagement.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with EU institutions
(European Commission, European Parliament, Council), NGOs, professional
associations, and other health-related stakeholders.
• Representation Communication: Actively engage with stakeholders and participate at
external meetings, forums, and high-level events. Draft policy briefs, position papers,
consultation responses, and advocacy communications.
• Internal Coordination: Collaborate regularly with ESR headquarters in Vienna and
coordinate closely with member organisations and expert committees to ensure
cohesive advocacy efforts.
Qualifications
• Education: University degree in political science, European affairs, public health, law, or
a related discipline.
• Experience: At least 2–3 years of relevant experience in EU public affairs, advocacy, or
policy analysis, preferably in the healthcare or life sciences sectors.
• EU Knowledge: Solid understanding of EU institutions, legislative procedures, and the
Brussels policy environment. Familiarity with European health policy is a strong asset.
• Languages: Excellent command of English is required. Additional EU languages (e.g.
German, French, Dutch) are considered an asset.
• Skills & Attributes:
o Excellent written and verbal communication
o Political sensitivity and strategic thinking
o Ability to synthesise complex information clearly and persuasively
o Strong sense of initiative and independence
o Comfortable working autonomously in Brussels, while coordinating with a
headquarters based in Vienna
o Flexible and adaptable, with the ability to work solo and as part of a distributed
team
o Willingness to occasionally travel between Brussels and Vienna or other
locations in Europe as required
