INEOS Aromatics is part of INEOS, one of the largest employers in the chemical industry in Belgium. Today we count over 3000 employees across 12 production- and R&D-sites: Doel, Brussels, Feluy, Geel (2), Jemeppe-sur-Sambre, Lillo (2), Neder-over-Heembeek, Zandvliet (2) and Zwijndrecht. Current Opportunity

Job Title: Senior Accountant (IFRS & VAT) - AROMATICS

Location: Geel

In this role, you will be responsible for IFRS-based financial accounting and reporting for a Belgian entity in an international industrial group. You will own Belgian VAT accounting and compliance and play a key role in the annual statutory conversion to Belgian GAAP, working closely with auditors and internal finance stakeholders.

Your Responsibilities

• Perform month-end and quarter-end closing activities accurately and on time in accordance with IFRS
• Manage general ledger accounting, including payroll, benefits, accruals, inventory, and cost accounting
• Own VAT accounting and compliance, including preparation, review, and timely submission of Belgian VAT returns and related reconciliations
• Maintain and control lease accounting under IFRS, and perform annual statutory conversion and reporting under Belgian GAAP (BE GAAP)
• Prepare statutory financial statements and support annual reporting and external audits
• Handle direct tax calculations, filings, and related accounting adjustments
• Support balance sheet reviews and assurance activities, ensuring data quality and compliance
• Prepare regulatory and compliance reports, including statistics for authorities
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders across finance and operations in an international environment

Your Profile

• Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; professional accounting qualification is a plus
• Several years of experience in general and statutory accounting
• Strong knowledge of Belgian GAAP and IFRS, including statutory close and reporting requirements
• Hands-on experience with Belgian VAT declarations and VAT accounting
• Solid experience working with SAP (FI module preferred)
• Fluency in English and Dutch (spoken and written)
• Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a structured and independent way
• Strong communication skills and a proactive, team-oriented mindset
