Subject Matter Expert Finance

The Subject Matter Expert has an in-depth understanding in/ knowledge of one specific topic

That expertise necessarily implies the ability to perform any related tasks at a master level. In the specific SME role

  • Supporting Cardif in terms of Reporting / Control / Consolidation, in order to improve/optimise the performances Cardif : delivering and managing comprehensive and detailed financial and non-financial management data on regular basis;
  • Expert role: widely recognised as an authority in their chosen field of expertise, they will give advice in specific areas : provide ad-hoc analysis
  • Providing (proactive) advice or specialised Finance services to the Cardif Finance organisation

Principal responsibilities:

  • Acquiring and developing a knowledge base: gathering, organizing and updating financial and non-financial performance data in order to assist the finance controllers. Monitoring the relevance, consistency and exhaustiveness of data. Participating in targets, budget and forecast cycles
  • Constantly looking for the best way of doing things, and examining alternative solutions/strategies in order to meet the needs of Cardif : optimizing process/tools so as to improve reporting according to quality standards
  • Ensuring consistency across BE & NE Carif entities
  • Recognising the main areas of vulnerability/improvement in a complex environment, assisting management for specific analysis and advising it on performance.
  • Being able to apply solutions pragmatically and focused on activities.
  • Develop PMO Finance function

Acting as a change management agent and offering solutions and support to Finance teams.

  • Checking results and adapting advice or services when this proves necessary.
  • Taking stock of, analysing and evaluating the procedures, processes and tools/systems concerned in order to identify the problems and make proposals for improvement.
  • Initiating and developing small 'projects' linked to their area of activity, Reporting / Control / Consolidation and monitoring these.

Education

Master's degree in economics or similar qualification

Required Experience

8-10 years of relevant experience in Finance (accounts reporting, control or consolidation processes)

Technical Experience

Mandatory

  • Bank accounting
  • Accounting and Financial reporting
  • Strong MS Office (Excel & Access) skills
  • Experience in Project Management

Preferable

  • IFRS 17 knowledge

Business Experience

Mandatory

  • Having the knowledge and experience to complete and deliver high quality work on time.
  • Capable of working and thinking in accordance with the considerably diversified procedures and standards in the Finance sectors

Preferable

  • Insurance business in Belgium
