As Managing Director you use your technical background and your sales experience for the commercial development of Water Experts. You are able to do operational work and at the same time think and act strategically. You are not afraid to build a strong sales pipeline while managing a team of experts who are responsible for operational implementation of projects. You feel comfortable working in a start-up environment and have the foresight to make it grow. You have the ambition to take on the management of this growing consultancy department and to lead Water Experts.
As part of this application, the Managing Director will be expected to invest in the company and acquire an equity stake. This ensures 'skin in the game' and strong alignment between leadership, ownership, and the long-term growth of Water Experts.
In your role as Managing Director, you:
Use your background in sales and business development to set up projects for new and existing clients
Focus heavily on business development and sales, this will be around 80% of your daily work
Are not afraid of cold calling to grow your customer base. You approach each (prospective) customer openly and confidently, to get them excited about integrated and sustainable water management
Are at the center of your team as they are making technical, economical or strategic studies with calculations, and designs of the services you provide for your clients (like water audits, wastewater treatment, water reuse, and future-proof water management plans)
Guide the team in carrying out in-depth studies of complex water challenges faced by your customers, you provide technical support where necessary
Guide the team in preparing reports with all relevant technical and economic implications. You present these plans to the customers, and keep in touch with them throughout any following decision-making processes.
Stay ahead of all current and future trends, emerging technologies and new practices
Communicate with clients in an open and professional manner and guide them through our solutions for their water-related challenges
Have a strong focus on building the right team and internal flawless communication.
The perfect Managing Director:
Has an engineering background, preferably in (waste) water treatment and management
Has strong technical knowledge and feels confident in carrying out technical studies for customers together with the team
Has a solid experience in sales and business development, of around five to ten years
Has confidence in their ability to manage, motivate and grow the Water Experts team
Communicates fluently in Dutch & English, French is a plus
Is willing and able to invest in the business and take on a shareholder role
Gets energy from making connections: networking, actively seeking new business opportunities, presenting Water Experts to different audiences
Understand his role towards the other main shareholders and communicates to enable trust and maximum support for the vision and strategy that will be set together.
