VIBE (Casey Works Centre) is home to the Open Space & City Greening business unit and offers modern, smart, and functional workspaces which support the service and operational needs of the Infrastructure & Open Space Department.

About the Role 

Lead and supervise the delivery of Active Open Spaces, Sports and Turf maintenance programs to enhance recreation reserves, playing surfaces and supporting infrastructure.

Work collaboratively with coordinators, staff and contractors to renew, maintain and improve sportsgrounds and active open space assets while ensuring safe leisure opportunities.

Build strong strategic and operational relationships with stakeholders to achieve timely, high‑quality delivery of capital works and operational projects.

What You'll deliver

• Lead the maintenance, renewal and development of sportsgrounds and active open space assets, driving excellence and continuous improvement.
• Oversee specifications, processes, staff and contractor performance, ensuring projects are delivered on time, on budget and to required standards.
• Support strategic planning by contributing to masterplans, operational plans and renewal programs across the public open space network.
• Manage contracts, budgets and stakeholder relationships while staying current with relevant legislation, regulations and industry developments.

What You'll Bring

• Demonstrated experience and exceptional understanding of contemporary turf management practice.
• Demonstrated experience and exceptional understanding of capital works and renewal projects in the active open space realm.
• Nationally recognised horticultural qualification (minimum level 5 Diploma of Turf Management) would be desirable.
• Willingness to undergo pre-employment background checks including National Criminal History Check, Working with Children Check, Eligibility to Work check and medical functional test.
