Internal Communications Specialist


Opportunity

As an Internal Communications Specialist, you will be the driving force behind our internal communication strategy, ensuring employees are informed, engaged, and aligned with the company's goals and values. Your mission is to create clarity, foster collaboration, and strengthen our organizational culture through impactful communication.
 
As an internal Communication Specialist you'll be part of the marketing team. The team is based in Almere, The Netherlands and has a physical Team Day weekly. 
You will work closely with leadership and key stakeholders to deliver clear, consistent, and timely messaging across all levels of the organization. This role is critical for enabling operational efficiency, supporting change management, and promoting employee engagement. Visibility at the ILIAS offices is key in this position. 

Your mission

Strategy & Planning
Develop and execute a comprehensive internal communications strategy, including key messaging, channels, and tactics aligned with business objectives.
 
Employee Engagement & Culture
Identify and implement initiatives that foster engagement, collaboration, and a positive workplace culture. Requires flexibility to travel to the different offices global frequently.  
Design and oversee content for Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) communications, cultural and wellness calendars, and internal events.
 
Content Creation & Delivery
Create compelling, employee-focused content for internal channels such as email updates, newsletters, intranet, videos, presentations, podcasts, and town halls.
 
Channel Management
Maintain and optimize internal communication platforms (intranet/SharePoint, digital signage, internal email tools, Viva Engage), ensuring they are user-friendly and effective.
 
Manager Enablement
Provide templates, toolkits, and guidance to help managers cascade messages effectively to their teams.
 
Change & Crisis Communication
Support organizational change and crisis communication efforts with timely, transparent, and empathetic messaging, when and if required.
 
Measurement & Reporting
Monitor and analyze communication effectiveness using feedback and analytics; provide insights and recommendations for improvement.
 
Employer Branding (Internal Lens)
Reinforce our identity and values internally to build pride and advocacy among employees.

Your capabilities

Education: BA/BS in Communications, Organizational Development, HR, or related field.
Experience: 3+ years in internal communications, corporate communications, or related roles.
 
Core Skills:

  • Exceptional writing and editing skills (English proficiency required).
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders across all levels.
  • Experience with internal communication tools (intranet/SharePoint, internal email platforms, Viva Engage) and analytics.
 Additional Expertise:
  • Knowledge of best practices for internal communications and employee engagement.
  • Experience in change management and crisis communication is a plus.
  • Mindset: Creative, proactive, empathetic, and solution-oriented.
