He aha te mahi? What's the role?


The Senior Quality Officer is responsible for controlling and managing fruit quality reporting across Zespri's European hubs. This role ensures that third-party logistics (3PL) providers comply with Zespri's quality standards through systematic auditing and reporting. The position also provides guidance and support to internal teams and external stakeholders on all quality-related matters.

  • SA targeting in SAP prior to the upload of the vessel manifest
  • Control & set PPS settings and train and liaise with colleague in Zeebrugge. 
  • Control Vessel and Container Audits: Control the discharge audits in Zeebrugge to monitor fruit quality during unloading, based on predefined parameters. Prepare and submit detailed audit and discharge reports. 
  • Control 3PL Performance Monitoring: Evaluate 3PL compliance with quality processes through regular audits and performance reporting. 
  • Prepare and monitor the Supplier Accountability Audits: Ensure we are well prepared for upcoming SA Audits as well as monitor the audits, based on predefined parameters. 
  • Provide insights on Insurance Claims: Provide insights on Insurance Claim inspections, communicate findings, and follow up with the operations quality teams in case of claims. 
  • Collaboration with 3PL: Provide necessary documentation and information to enable 3PL partners to meet agreed quality standards. 
  • Training & Documentation: Deliver training sessions and maintain accessible quality documentation for internal teams and 3PL partners. 
  • Compliance & Food Safety: Support sampling and support trials for the Compliance Department, ensuring adherence to food safety standards. 
  • Quality Communication: Monitor and report quality performance within the team, highlighting non-compliance and areas for improvement. 
  • Operational Support: Collaborate with the Operations & Logistics Manager / Lead and act as backup for team members during absences.

    We are looking for an independent individual with 10+ years experience within warehouse and quality management systems. You will also meet the following criteria:

  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • Strong knowledge of quality standards and auditing within the fruit production environment.
  • Strong training skills for both ZSC colleagues and 3PL staff.
  • Cross-functional collaboration to provide Fruit optimisation Team with accurate, timely quality data and actionable insights to support decision-making.
  • Strong initiative, eagerness to learn, and ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Good command of Dutch & business English; additional European languages (Italian, Spanish, French) are a plus.
  • Valid Belgian driver's license.
