Student/Intern Chemist, Drug Development, Hydrogels


The Job

We are seeking a highly motivated student or intern to join our R&D team at Allegro Biotech, a cutting-edge biotech company developing advanced biomaterials for therapeutic applications. The successful candidate will deliver projects exploring the integration of bioactive compounds into hydrogel systems for controlled and sustained activity.

This role offers a unique opportunity to work alongside experienced scientists in a fast-paced, innovative environment, gaining hands-on experience with both experimental design and materials characterization.

Responsibilities

Experimental Development & Materials Engineering

·      Design, execute, and optimize hydrogel formulations integrating bioactive compounds.

·      Conduct laboratory experiments independently, including mixing, gelation, and material handling.

·      Develop protocols for testing hydrogel properties and stability.

Analytical & Characterization

·      Perform physical, chemical, and mechanical characterization of hydrogels.

·      Collect, analyze, and interpret experimental data to inform project decisions.

·      Identify challenges and propose experimental solutions to improve material performance.

Prototype Development & Innovation

·      Lead small-scale prototype development to test hydrogel functionality.

·      Evaluate the effectiveness of formulations in achieving sustained bioactive compound activity.

·      Collaborate with team members to refine approaches and implement innovative solutions.

Your Profile

·      Currently enrolled in a Master’s or advanced Bachelor’s program in Chemistry, Bioengineering, Materials Science, or a related field.

·      Hands-on laboratory experience is preferred; familiarity with biomaterials or polymer chemistry is a plus.

·      Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a methodical approach to problem-solving.

·      Enthusiastic, proactive, and able to thrive in a collaborative environment.
