The Senior Financial Controller / Head of Accounting is responsible for leading all global
accounting, financial controlling, and FP&A activities within a rapidly growing, international
MedTech organization. The role combines hands-on operational execution with strategic
financial leadership and supports the company through a pivotal phase of growth, scaling,
and financial digital transformation.
The position requires strong technical expertise, robust financial acumen, and the ability to
design scalable financial processes across multiple jurisdictions. As a key partner to senior
leadership, the Senior Financial Controller contributes directly to financial strategy,
performance management, and operational decision-making.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Accounting & Financial Operations - Ensure processing, accuracy, and compliance :
• Lead all accounting operations across global entities (Belgium HQ, Switzerland, US, and additional jurisdictions).
• Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes to ensure accuracy, completeness, and timelines.
• Maintain and strengthen accounting policies, internal controls, and compliance with applicable GAAP/IFRS requirements.
• Supervise external accounting firms and auditors; ensure smooth annual audit cycles.
• Support tax compliance activities (corporate tax, VAT, payroll taxes) in collaboration with external advisors.
Financial Controlling - Report, track, and control financial performance :
• Own the consolidation of financial results across all entities.
• Deliver management reporting packages, dashboards, cash flow analysis, and variance analysis.
• Implement best-in-class cost tracking, controlling frameworks, and scalable financial
processes aligned with growth.
FP&A and Strategic Support - Enable the business & operations :
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning.
• Build financial models and scenario analyses to guide business decisions, investments, commercial strategy, and operational planning.
• Partner with functional teams (R&D, operations, sales, marketing) to enhance financial transparency and performance tracking.
Digitalization & Process Optimization – Accelerate finance transformation :
• Map and redesign finance processes to support scale-up and efficiency.
• Drive automation initiatives and lead ERP strategy, optimization, and system integration.• Enhance FP&A capabilities using digital tools, BI solutions, and data-driven decision frameworks.
• Promote a "digital-first" mindset within Finance and across the organization.
Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration - Manage teams & support executives :
• Lead, mentor, and develop members of the finance team across multiple countries.
• Serve as the primary finance contact for senior leadership, board reporting, and investors.
• Foster a culture of operational excellence, continuous improvement, and financial discipline.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE
Education & Experience:
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
• 5-15 years of professional experience, including a strong foundation in Audit (Big 4), Controlling, or FP&A.
• Strong technical accounting knowledge (IFRS, Belgian GAAP, consolidation, tax).
Technical Skills:
• Experience managing cross-border accounting, tax, audits, and statutory requirements (EU, Switzerland, US, Asia depending on footprint).
• Understanding of global tax frameworks, customs duties, and transfer pricing.
• Strong IT and digital finance skills: ERP systems, BI tools, automation platforms, AI- supported analytics.
• Experience leading ERP implementations or finance digitalization initiatives is a strong advantage
