We are recruiting an experienced Lead HGV Mechanic / Workshop Manager to head up operations within a busy technical workshop environment for an industry-leading engineering company.
This role is responsible for managing people, processes, and resources to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery of HGV maintenance and repair services. You will act as the main operational point of contact for customers and play a key role in driving performance and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all HGV maintenance and repair activities, ensuring work is completed safely, on time, and to a high technical standard
- Plan and allocate workload across supervisors and technicians to meet operational demands
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, productivity, and cost control
- Monitor and manage workshop KPIs including turnaround time, cost per repair, productivity, and fleet uptime
- Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations, quality standards, and internal procedures
- Act as the primary operational contact for customers, managing day-to-day communication and expectations
- Identify training needs and support development of supervisors and technicians
- Mentor, motivate, and lead the workshop team to maintain high performance
- Manage workshop resources, tooling, and equipment
- Control budgets and operational costs, identifying savings opportunities
- Liaise with suppliers and external partners
- Support technical fault-finding and escalation where required
Requirements
- Technical diploma as a minimum; Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical / Industrial Engineering preferred
- Extensive experience in HGV workshop management, maintenance operations, or senior technical leadership
- Strong commercial awareness with the ability to manage costs and budgets
- Proven leadership experience managing supervisors and technicians
- Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills
- Fluent in Dutch and English
Salary range for this role is €80,000-$100,000.
