Senior SQL Database Administrator

Your Role

We’re looking for a Senior SQL Server DBA & Technical Lead to join a long-term project at one of our enterprise clients in the financial and insurance sector. You’ll work at the heart of their core systems, supporting the next phase of modernization for their SQL Server environment.

Whether you’re a freelancer or prefer to join our internal team, this role offers the chance to combine deep technical involvement with strategic influence.

You’ll guide platform evolution, lead governance and standardization efforts, and serve as a go-to expert for both system-level and development-focused database topics.

Your Responsibilities

• Design and steer the SQL Server platform across on-prem and cloud environments (Azure SQL)
• Lead governance initiatives around performance, security, and operational standards
• Mentor and support DBA colleagues across system and developer specialties
• Drive modernization projects, including large-scale upgrades to SQL Server 2025
• Resolve complex issues, from infrastructure tuning to application-layer performance

Your Expertise

• 7+ years of hands-on SQL Server experience in business-critical OLTP environments
• Strong knowledge of Azure SQL, SQL Managed Instances, and hybrid architectures
• Deep expertise in performance tuning, troubleshooting, and security
• Confident in designing and documenting scalable DB solutions (HLD/LLD)
• Solid T-SQL skills and an understanding of application/database interaction
• Fluent in Dutch or French, good comprehension of English

Nice to have:

• Experience with MongoDB, PowerShell, Terraform, or automation pipelines
• Familiarity with tools like Redgate, SQL Sentry, or AppDynamics
• Certifications in Azure, SQL Server, or enterprise architecture (e.g., TOGAF)
