Freelance Data Engineer Fabric

We’re looking for a freelance Senior Data Engineer to support our client in rolling out Microsoft Fabric and mentoring their internal team throughout the process. In the initial phase, you’ll take ownership of defining the full setup; laying the foundation, building data pipelines and demonstrating recommended development practices. As the project matures, leadership will gradually transition to an internal team member, while your role may evolve into continued development work or advisory support.

YOUR JOB

• Own the end-to-end delivery of a cutting-edge Microsoft Fabric environment: from greenfield setup to a fully production-ready ecosystem.
• Design and shape a modern Medallion architecture, bringing structure, clarity and best-in-class data modeling practices into Fabric.
• Build high-performance, scalable data pipelines using Python notebooks and Fabric’s advanced Data Engineering capabilities.
• Infuse DevOps excellence into every step of the data lifecycle, enabling seamless releases, strong reliability and effortless maintainability.
• Upskill and empower the internal data team through targeted coaching, hands-on workshops and practical knowledge-transfer sessions.
• Partner with key stakeholders to ensure a smooth handover, a confident internal team and a sustainable long-term data environment.

YOUR SKILLS

• 5+ years of experience in data engineering
• Successfully completed at least 1 end-to-end MS Fabric project
• Experienced in SQL, Python and Azure DevOps
• Data modeling has no secrets for you
• Fluent in Dutch and French
