Commodity Purchaser



Your role

As a Purchaser, you will take full ownership of supplier relationship management across a broad range of commodities. You will explore, evaluate, and optimize both new and existing suppliers and products, always aiming to build an efficient and resilient supply chain. Your decisions will be guided by the six pillars of purchasing excellence—total cost, quality, logistics, product and process development, contracting, and sustainability. In this role, you will develop a robust purchasing strategy that aligns with divisional objectives and contribute actively to the digital transformation of our supply chain.

Your responsibilities include participating in projects for both existing and newly developed compressor elements, ensuring they remain aligned with project budgets and timelines. You will identify and evaluate potential new suppliers by assessing their commercial, technical, and supply chain capabilities in accordance with the Atlas Copco Business Code of Practice. In addition, you will lead negotiations with current suppliers to renew existing contracts and establish new agreements with selected partners.

A key part of your role is to drive cost-saving and availability initiatives by performing market research, benchmarking, and in-depth analyses to identify opportunities for added value while carefully assessing supplier risks. You will work closely with SQA engineers to monitor supplier quality performance and define areas for improvement, and you will collaborate with logistics planners to secure a reliable supply chain and ensure optimal delivery performance.

  • You have a master's degree in engineering or business or experience in supply chain management
  • You are fluent in English, a good understanding of other European languages is a plus
  • You are passionate about innovation and technology
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Office 365 (including Excel, PowerPoint, Teams and SharePoint) is required, knowledge of AS400, SAP and Power BI is a plus
  • You are pro-active, dynamic and like to be challenged within a commercial environment
  • You are result driven and can work towards project deadlines
  • You are committed, pro-active and would like to work in an international environment

Job location

This role offers a hybrid working arrangement, allowing you to split your time between working remotely and being on-site at our Atlas Copco airpower site in Wilrijk; Antwerp, Belgium (BE).
