The team Asset Health Monitoring, internally called AHM, focuses on advancing industrial mechatronic system reliability through advanced sensing technologies, application specific feature engineering, data analysis, physics- and AI-based modelling, and probabilistic and predictive analytics for diagnostics, prognostics, root cause analysis, and asset health management.

Applications involve motion products such as machines, vehicles and production systems or components thereof. These systems often operate under challenging, highly dynamic, and variable conditions, frequently encountered in agricultural, manufacturing, construction, and other application domains. Together with other R&D teams and industry itself, you bring this innovation into practice by creating inspiring proof-of-concept solutions and demonstrators.

As a team leader, you will continue to shape the team's vision and mission and lead the collective future of its members. You will steer the technical roadmap, ensure strategic resource planning, and maintain a project portfolio aligned with industry needs. In this role, you will coach and mentor a team of, associate to senior, research engineers, manage collaborative industry-driven R&D projects, initiate and define new R&D projects, and identify valorization opportunities with industry stakeholders. You will be responsible for leveraging the team's expertise, ensuring both the team's and individual members' growth. You know how to collaborate effectively with sales, project leaders, technology leaders, researchers etc. and can position your team members in such a way that they do too.

Main Responsibilities

  • Team leadership

  • Lead and develop a team of ~10 (associate to senior) research engineers;

  • Ensure wellbeing, coaching, and professional growth;

  • Allocate members across B2B and research assignments, based on their competences and ensure continuity for activities, thereby consulting also other team leaders and/or project managers;

  • Coordinate and facilitate requests for support;

  • Foster collaboration between your team members and others.

  • Applied research & innovation:

  • Push the state of the art and bring knowledge to industry;

  • Define and drive the team's technology roadmap in alignment with industry needs;

  • Deliver reusable technical results with real-world impact;

  • Build strategic industry and research partnerships;

  • Design and initiate new research and B2B projects based on technology gaps and market needs or trends;

  • Translate advanced research into technical solutions and proof-of concept demonstrators.

Profile
PROFILE

  • Core requirements:

  • A Master's or PhD degree in a relevant technical domain;

  • Min. 10 years relevant technical experience & 2 years of team leadership;

  • Proven technical expertise and a clear strategic vision on asset health monitoring technologies and applications;

  • An established industrial network.

  • Leadership and management:

  • Empathic, proactive, and assertive leadership style;

  • Skilled in coaching and mentoring a diverse team of researchers;

  • Strong organizational, strategic, and commercial talent.

  • Technical and operational skills:

  • Knowledge of mechatronic systems (e.g. electromechanical systems, complex machines …) and their components;

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities;

  • Effective budgeting, resource planning and management;

  • Ability to quickly and accurately assess stakeholder needs and translate those into solutions.

  • Preferred extras:

  • DIY and hands-on mindset and practical insight;

  • Open to ideas, motivation that inspires others, and ability to maintain perspective;

  • Diplomatic, with a sense of humor.
