About the team you are joining

IATA strives to improve the understanding of the air transport industry among decision-makers and increase awareness of the benefits that aviation brings to national and global economies. Advocating for the interests of airlines across the globe, we challenge unreasonable rules and charges, hold regulators and governments to account, and strive for sensible regulation. 
You will report to the Director of EU Affairs and you will be responsible for reinforcing IATA's presence in Brussels, enhancing its ability to represent the interests of the airline industry, and influencing the relevant EU policy decisions on operational airline issues.

What your day would be like

You will deliver on advocacy campaigns related to airline operational issues, including related to airspace (ATM), airline safety, security, facilitation, digital, data protection and privacy. You will analyse relevant policy trends inside the various EU Institutions, propose related advocacy strategies and implementation plans. To do so, you will be expected to develop close working relationships with key decision makers in the relevant EU institutions and agencies, such as EASA and EUROCONTROL as well as with the associations representing the relevant stakeholders.
While the position is based in Brussels, it will also require liaising with the Regional European Offices (Geneva, Madrid), under the supervision of the Director and Headquarters

We would love to hear from you if

University degree, ideally in Law, Engineering, Economics, Political Science, International Relations or Politics, Philosophy and Economics (PPE);
A minimum of 15 years of relevant experience, with 5-10 years of those in the aviation sector or regulator (Civil Aviation Authority, European Commission, ECAC); overall knowledge and experience in aviation operational issues would be a strong asset;
Thorough knowledge of the Brussels lobbying scene, with a good network of contacts in the EU Institutions and in national capitals (EU).
Outgoing personality, excellent social skills, ability to influence people in a multi-cultural environment;
Sharp analytical skills, discretion and excellent oral presentation skills;
Excellent written English; knowledge of other European languages would be an advantage.
