Process Automation Engineer

We are looking for an experienced Python Process Automation Engineer to join our team in Zaventem. In this role, you will not only maintain existing Python-based RPA scripts for Tax processes but also expand our automation platform. This includes developing and maintaining the RPA engine that schedules and executes tasks, as well as building dashboards (React-based) to monitor automated processes.

You will work across the full stack of our automation landscape — from scripting and containerization to system orchestration and front-end reporting.

Beyond strong technical skills, we value colleagues who combine social and client-oriented skills with the ability to take ownership of projects and help shape our innovation and technology journey.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain, debug, and optimize Python-based RPA scripts for Tax processes.
  • Develop and maintain the RPA scheduling engine (task orchestration, logging, monitoring).
  • Design and build React-based dashboards to track automation performance and process status.
  • Manage the runtime environment (Windows servers, Docker containers, auto-scheduling).
  • Ensure reliability, scalability, and maintainability of the automation infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with business teams to map processes, capture edge cases, and adapt automations to evolving processes.
  • Build auditability and data protection by design (structured logs, re-run capability, access controls)
  • Document systems, scripts, and dashboards in clear language for long-term sustainability and easy handover.
  • Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement, transparency and knowledge sharing.

Requirements

  • Strong Python development skills, with a focus on automation and scripting.
  • Max 5 years of relevant working experience.
  • Experience with React (or similar front-end frameworks) for dashboard development.
  • Familiarity with containerization (Docker) and task scheduling/orchestration.
  • Experience working on Windows-based automation environments.
  • Solid understanding of software maintenance practices (version control, testing, CI/CD).
  • RPA experience is a big plus, especially in Accounting, Tax or Finance contexts.
  • Problem-solving mindset and ability to own projects end-to-end.
  • Product mindset: able to define scope, success metrics, and trade-offs.
  • Process literacy: understands workflow mapping and control requirements.
  • Governance & compliance awareness: designs automations with audit trails, evidence retention, and data minimisation in mind with knowledge of ISO 27001 being a strong plus.
  • Stakeholder communication: able to work with the business and translate business requests into clear technical specifications, and explain outputs to non-technical colleagues.
  • Ownership and quality discipline: ensures testing, monitoring, and documentation are part of every delivery.
  • Strong communication skills in English, with either Dutch or French at full working proficiency.
  • Social, collaborative, and client-oriented attitude with the ability to work independently.

What we offer

  • A full-time hybrid position in Zaventem within a stable and growing company.
  • The opportunity to shape and expand a core automation platform with visible business impact.
  • Competitive salary and benefits package.
  • A role that combines Tax, Technology, and Process Automation.
  • An open and collaborative work environment where teamwork, communication, and client focus are highly valued.
  • Opportunities to work closely with both technical colleagues and client-facing teams, giving you direct impact on how we serve our clients.
