Wellbeing Officer

We're building something big — a European umbrella organisation that unites and supports Pirate Parties across Europe to amplify our shared political voice.

Our movement is rooted in collaboration, grassroots empowerment, and creating real impact at the EU level.

To support our volunteers and ensure a healthy, positive, and sustainable organisational culture, we're looking for a dedicated
Volunteer Wellbeing Officer
to join our European Secretariat.

About this role

This is a volunteer — therefore
unpaid
— position. Everyone in our organisation, from coordinators to team assistants, contributes their time and skills voluntarily to strengthen the European Pirates movement.

As a Wellbeing Officer, you'll help cultivate a supportive environment where volunteers feel motivated, appreciated, and empowered. You'll play a key role in sustaining a respectful, inclusive, and healthy organisational culture. By joining us, you'll become part of a diverse, international community that values compassion, teamwork, and shared ideals.

Your main tasks will include:

● Monitoring volunteer wellbeing and acting as a confidential point of contact for concerns or conflicts.

● Supporting a positive and inclusive organisational culture through regular check-ins, feedback loops, and informal wellbeing initiatives.

● Helping detect early signs of burnout, disengagement, or team stress and flagging them to relevant Team Leads.

● Facilitating smooth communication and encouraging respectful, constructive collaboration.

● Assisting with onboarding and integration of new volunteers to ensure they feel welcomed and supported.

● Creating small initiatives that strengthen team spirit (wellbeing tips, informal gatherings, feedback circles, appreciation moments).

● Developing light guidelines on wellbeing, respectful behaviour, and volunteering sustainability.

● Providing input to the Operations (HR) Team to improve volunteer experience.

Where this role fits

You will be part of the
Operations Team (HR)
, collaborating closely with team leads.

This role interacts with all teams to support the overall volunteer experience.

HR Experience is a plus

We value
empathy, discretion, and good interpersonal skills
above all. If you've been involved in youth organisations, NGOs, activism, mediation, or community support, that's a plus — but not mandatory.

What matters most is your ability to listen, support, and foster a positive environment.

Time Commitment

Flexible and part-time:
2–4 hours per week
, depending on your availability.

Location:
Remote / anywhere in Europe.

Why join us?

Volunteering with the European Pirates Organisation is a meaningful and rewarding experience that goes far beyond administrative work — it's about helping people thrive.

Here's what you'll gain:

Skill development:
Strengthen your interpersonal, communication, and mediation skills.

Certificate of participation:
All volunteers receive an official certificate recognising their contribution.

European-level experience:
Understand how a transnational volunteer organisation functions.

Networking:
Join a collaborative community of volunteers from across Europe.

Learning opportunities:
