Role title: Marketing & Business Development Manager – Brussels

Department: Marketing & Business Development (M&BD)

Location: Brussels

Reports to: Global Head of Business Development and Practices and Markets

Job type: Permanent, part-time: +/- 60% (24h a week)

Overview of role: This role represents an opportunity to be part of the Simmons & Simmons Belgium growth story. Since opening in 1962, the Brussels office has seen significant growth and has achieved impressive results for both local and international clients.

Operating as part of both the Brussels office and the wider Simmons M&BD community, the successful candidate will have a strong voice in the future planning of the office. 2. What will you do

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

Marketing & BD Planning:

§Collaborate with Brussels-based lawyers to develop and implement the office business plan, ensuring alignment with international and firmwide strategies. §Oversee all M&BD activities in Brussels to ensure consistency and strategic alignment. §Take the initiative in M&BD matters and propose strategies to the Country Head and Partners.

Brand & Profile:

§Raise the profile of the Simmons & Simmons Brussels office through priority projects, including social media initiatives and close collaboration with the central Marketing & Communications team. §Identify and pursue thought leadership opportunities and coordinate the preparation and submission of annual legal directory entries.

Events:

§Coordinate and provide substantive marketing input to the Administrative Manager, who will ensure the organisation of internal and external BD events.

Press Relations:

§Build and maintain strong relationships with key media contacts. §Facilitate effective information flow within the Brussels office and across the wider firm. §Maintain a thorough understanding of both local and international priorities, fostering networking and awareness of firm-wide initiatives.

New Business:

§Lead initiatives to attract new clients, including the preparation and coordination of pitch teams. §Gather and analyse feedback from pitches to drive continuous improvement.

Client Development:

§Support the management of local client relationships and proactively identify opportunities for strategic clients, both as part of the firm's global client programme and locally. §May be responsible for overseeing a strategic client account.

Budget Management:

§Oversee the allocation and management of the M&BD budget for the Brussels office. §Monitor expenditure and ensure all unplanned expenses are justified and reported appropriately.

Reporting:

§Support the centralised reporting of local M&BD activities, market trends, and business development opportunities.

Cross-Team Liaison:

§Ensure clear and comprehensive project briefs are provided to relevant teams. §Review all outputs for accuracy and quality prior to distribution. 3. What we're looking for

Person Specification:

§Minimum of 5 years of M&BD experience, with at least 1 year in a law firm or relevant sector preferred. §Preferably fluent in English and Dutch or French. Fluency in all three languages is an advantage. §A university degree in business, marketing, or a related area is preferred. A professional marketing qualification is also desirable. §Well-developed understanding of marketing and business development strategy and implementation. §Strong project management skills. §Understands how to manage events from conception through to completion. §Proficient in PowerPoint, Excel, and Word. §Strong experience in the end-to-end management of the pitch process. §Possesses excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. §Well-organized with a keen attention to detail. §Highly consultative approach and is solution oriented. §Acts to maximise the profitability of the business. §Quickly establishes and sustains positive relationships with individuals at various levels of seniority. §A strong understanding of the Brussels professional services market desired. §Proactive, demonstrating initiative in all aspects of the role.
