Stage - Procurement Internship M/F/X


This internship does not require a visa application. Therefore, only candidates who have the right to reside and work in Belgium for the entire duration of the internship will be considered.

Purpose of the intern

The Central Procurement team at Eurostar Group leads the optimisation of its company spend.  It leverages market and category management expertise to manage the acquisition of goods and services, with the aim of achieving optimal total cost of ownership together with the management of key supplier relationships. To accomplish this goal it needs market information and insights to guide its business decisions. It also uses tools and processes which require management and rigorous administration.

The Procurement Intern will contribute to the success of the Central Procurement team by gathering and analysing information from internal and external sources, before sharing it with team members. The Procurement Intern will be responsible for the maintenance and administration of tools and processes used by the Central Procurement team, monitoring departmental email inboxes, maintaining the departmental intranet site, managing access permissions, administrating project and tender management tools, and ensuring that templates and information used by team members and stakeholders are kept up to date at all times. The Procurement Intern may support the organisation of training and/or workshops as appropriate. The Procurement Intern will also assist business stakeholders in managing the Commitment Board and the Contract Signature processes. In addition, the Procurement Intern will support individual team members in the administration of certain complex tenders. Should the need arise, the Procurement Intern may be given responsibility for some minor procurement projects.

Principal Accountabilities
  • Should the need arise and under the guidance of a senior member (Professional services & contractors procurement category manager) of the Central Procurement team, lead certain procurement projects
  • Obtain regular and ad-hoc market insight and intelligence (including internal information), and supply it to Category Managers to assist in the development of their category strategy as well as in the conduct of negotiations
  • Rigorously maintain templates and other files or documents, including the departmental intranet site, shared files and folders, etc. used by Category Managers and business stakeholders in the conduct of procurement activities
  • Assist in the training of business stakeholders, as required
  • Monitor compliance to processes and procedures and drive continuous improvement
  • Support Category Managers in the administration of complex tenders, such as recording and analysing bidders' offers, and assisting in the organisation of meetings

Requirements

  • Educated to degree level
  • Methodical and rigorous, with good time management skills
  • Demonstrating problem-solving and analytical skills
  • IT literate
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Autonomous, capable of initiative
  • Able to work under pressure, willing to take additional responsibilities within the Procurement department
  • Fluent business English and French mandatory
