Job Title: Resident Quality Engineer

Location: Belgium OR Malta

Work model: Full-time, On-site

We are seeking a Resident Quality Engineer to act as the key technical link between a major automotive manufacturer and internal engineering teams. In this role, you will support smooth production operations, ensure product quality, and address technical issues quickly and efficiently.

You will engage directly with the customer on-site, build strong relationships, and support product development, validation, and launch activities. This position suits someone hands-on, analytical, customer-oriented, and able to communicate confidently across engineering and production environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the on-site technical contact, working closely with customer engineering teams.
• Support issue resolution, containment activities, and first-level root cause analysis.
• Conduct regular customer visits and prioritise based on urgency and project phase.
• Assist in new product development by aligning requirements and supporting design and validation activities.
• Coordinate with internal engineering, quality, and manufacturing teams to ensure successful launches.
• Troubleshoot electromechanical issues both in-vehicle and in test environments.
• Monitor customer feedback and drive continuous improvement actions.

Requirements

• Degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical preferred).
• 2+ years experience in the automotive industry (OEM or Tier 1).
• Experience in structured problem-solving (e.g., 8D).
• Hands-on troubleshooting ability with test and diagnostic equipment.
• Strong communication, organisational, and relationship-building skills.
• Willingness to travel approximately 40% (domestic and international).
• Good communication skills in English.

Preferred Requirements

• Experience with automotive electronic products, especially electromechanical systems and CAN/LIN networks.
• Previous experience as a Resident Engineer with OEMs.
• Knowledge of tools such as CANoe, CANalyzer, VectorCANdriver and OEM portals (e.g. Ford, GM).
