Underwriter Cargo

OBJECTIVES

Underwriting profitable business in accordance with MSIG EUROPE targets, strategies, guidelines, authorities and processes through the retention and expansion/extension of the existing profitable business as well as the acquisition of profitable new business.

MAIN TASKS

• Risk analysis, calculation of technical premium and pricing, preparation of tenders as well as the negotiation of terms & conditions for existing and new business.
• Examination and negotiation of wordings.
• Participating in risk inspections and tracking of risk improvements measures.
• Preparation of relevant information for our Senior Underwriting Assistants.
• Preparation of UW rationale and U-Forms for business beyond own authority
• Portfolio management, profitability control and, if necessary, implementation of corrective measures
• Development and implementation of control mechanisms and portfolio audits
• Determination of reinsurance requirements and placement of adequate Fac Reinsurance in close cooperation with CC RI & CC UW
• Input & maintain the relevant data in the different UW tools (Artemis, Sapiens, Pulse)
• Establish and strengthen relationships with brokers, clients, business partners and colleagues, to maximize influence and achieve business objectives
• To carry out special projects relating to data management requested by the Chief Underwriter Property, Managing Director and/or CC UW

EDUCATIONS

Degree in economics or law, specialized in insurance or comparable qualification

Several years of professional experience in Marine Insurance

• Familiar within all common MS office products
• Fluent knowledge of spoken and written Dutch and French and good English language skills (business fluent). (In addition, knowledge of German and/or Japanese would be appreciated.)
