Technical Expert – Server, Storage & Virtualization

Program Overview

The organization is currently executing a
data center transition program
to directly manage data center housing contracts.

Currently, these contracts are managed through an external intermediary, but the aim is to establish
direct contractual relationships
with the data center providers.

The transition involves a
controlled relocation
of existing infrastructure to new locations within the same data centers. The key focus areas include:

• Business continuity
• Technical stability
• Minimal-change approach (only essential updates; replacement of obsolete/unsupported components)

The program covers the following domains:

Data centre, networking, network security, servers, storage, and virtualization.

Role Purpose

The
Technical Expert
will support internal infrastructure teams in designing, configuring, and validating the technical solution for the data center transition.

The role includes:

• Hands-on configuration
• Testing and validation
• Preparation of technical documentation

Note:
Physical installation or device movement inside data centers is
not
part of the role.

The expert will work closely with the internal technical lead to refine and validate:

• Architecture
• Configurations
• Migration approach

Key Responsibilities

• Design and validate technical solutions for
  servers, storage, and virtualization (VMware)
  .
• Support migration preparation and validation testing of the new setup.
• Configure and document infrastructure components in collaboration with internal teams.
• Produce technical documentation, including:
• Solution designs
• Configuration guides
• Migration procedures
• Advise on backup and recovery strategies, considering future target solutions.
• Ensure high-quality knowledge transfer to internal teams.
• Support the
  minimal-change strategy
  — stability first, no unnecessary redesigns.

Required Skills & Experience

• Minimum 10 years
  of experience in data centre infrastructure.
• Deep expertise in:
• VMware
  : vSphere, vCenter, ESXi
• Storage
  : Dell Power Store, NetApp
• Servers
  : Dell PowerEdge, HP ProLiant
• Backup
  : current solution Store Once; target solution TBD
• Operating Systems
  : Windows, Linux
• Extensive experience in
  solution design and implementation
  in enterprise environments.
• Strong analytical, documentation, and troubleshooting capabilities.
• Ability to adapt quickly and contribute effectively to a complex, high-stakes program.
