Purpose

As part of the Global Commercial R&D team, you lead the design of product research to gather proprietary insights about consumer usage & attitudes, preferences, and drivers of choice. You focus particularly on uncovering the critical technical features of products (liquid, pack, claims, benefits) that generate IP, unlock product superiority, and drive top-line growth.

Your scope centers on non-alcoholic functional beverages, with focus regions including North America, Europe, and Asia. You will explore research methodologies and product-space design to answer project objectives and research questions. You translate consumer feedback into proprietary insights that guide product developers and R&D teams — helping to prioritize our long-term innovation portfolio.

Key Accountabilities

  • Design and execute research methodologies to assess and quantify perceived benefits and preferences of non-alcoholic functional beverages — both at first consumption and over repeated exposure.
  • Design and execute product research methodologies to screen and select technologies and product innovations related to non-alcoholic functional beverages.
  • Lead and execute research plans (qualitative & quantitative), covering product testing, claims testing, MVP evaluations, prototype tasting, and concept refinement. This includes briefing and supervising external research agencies and coordinating internal teams such as data scientists. Turn results into clear insights and simple, actionable recommendations.
  • Lead the research to define consumer segments relevant to innovation projects and regions. Translate insights into recommendations that help prioritize projects and design winning products focused on the biggest opportunities.
  • Translate competitive intelligence, category insights, taste segment intelligence, and trends into data-rich insights that support portfolio strategy and identify new opportunities.
  • Consolidate insights and patterns, and share knowledge to maximize synergies and accelerate innovation and strategic project replication.
  • Manage trainees and partner agency relationships.
  • Build and leverage an external network in Sensory, Physiology, Nutrition, Psychology, Behavior, Semiotics, Applied Data Science, Design of Experiments, Product Science, and Product Research as needed.

Skills and Experience

  • Master's or PhD in Consumer Behavior, Psychology, Food Science, Physiology, Nutrition, Applied Statistics, or Data Science
  • 7–10+ years of experience in Product Research or Consumer/Product Science, with deep knowledge in Sensory, Nutrition, and/or Physiology
  • Experience running long-duration research programs, in-home use tests, and qualitative research is highly valued
  • Fluency in English (spoken/written); additional languages are an asset
  • Experience with data collection & analytics tools (Eye Question, Fizz, Compusense, XLSTAT) is a plus
  • Strong ownership mindset and customer orientation
  • Excellent organizational, planning, and problem-solving skills with a pragmatic approach
  • Strong interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills
  • Demonstrated experience as a project leader with a proven track record of successful delivery
  • Ability to simplify complexity, build compelling narratives, and provide clear options and recommendations considering cost, time, and quality
  • Agile, collaborative working style
  • Comfortable working in an environment where priorities and timelines shift frequently
  • Willingness to travel
