Intern Change projects

The Shift - Hub for changemakers

We are Belgium's first, largest and most diverse sustainability community. Formed by a fusion of the worlds of business, civil society and science 10 years ago, this is where those who want to accelerate the sustainable transition gather. We have more than 530 members: powerful innovators, professionals and decision-makers working for companies, NGOs, universities, cabinets and even the royal family .

You could call us the driving force, because in addition to uniting tomorrow's creators, we bring mutual collaborations to life. We find innovative solutions for the biggest sustainability challenges facing our country. Then we scale them up with our partners. This is the only way to get a climate-neutral, nature-positive and inclusive economy off the ground.

In the context of these collaborations, which we call our Change-projects, we are actively looking for a motivated intern to support our mission.

Your tasks

In the context of this internship you will be supporting the 'change facilitators' in the day-to-day running of their projects. Each of these projects covers a different domain: climate, biodiversity, systems transition, equity, etc. Project activities range from webinars, inspiration sessions to communities of practice.

You will be involved in a wide array of sustainability topics and interact with the diversity of our network.

Your tasks will include:

  • Assisting in the organisation of events in a very practical way;
  • Producing related materials: presentations, meeting notes, activity pages on our website...;
  • Conducting preliminary research on sustainability topics;
  • Contacting members through our network;
  • Reporting key take-aways from our events or discussions;
  • You will be involved in a wide array of sustainability topics and interact with the diversity of our network.

Your profile

  • You have a background or strong interest in one or more sustainability-related topics and you are aware of the major current trends and developments in the sustainability landscape;
  • You are flexible, resourceful and curious;
  • You work meticulously with an eye for detail;
  • You are very results-oriented and can work towards clear deliverables and strict deadlines;
  • Your native language is either Dutch or French, and you are fluent in both written and spoken English;
  • Your education level can either be bachelor or master. However, your motivation is more important to us than your degree, so we really like to hear from you why you would be the person we are looking for. Let us know via mail, video or other format what your qualities are and what experience you would bring with you.

We offer

  • A unique opportunity to join the largest sustainability community in Belgium;
  • Gain hands-on experience in project management and sustainability;
  • A meaningful role to directly contribute to our projects;
  • Daily interactions with our diverse membership base, helping you to develop an interesting network;
  • An eye for the work-life balance; e.g. we opt for a combination of office and home work;
  • An enthusiastic team of around 11 employees, where you play a supporting role;
  • A value-oriented organisation with a positive impact on people and planet.
