Freelance System Engineer - Cloud Migration - Greenfield Project

We are seeking an experienced Freelance System Engineer to join a client of ours in the Logistics sector and play a key role in a greenfield cloud migration project. This is an exciting opportunity to help design, build, and migrate infrastructure from the ground up — implementing modern, scalable, and secure cloud solutions in a brand-new environment.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement core infrastructure components for a greenfield cloud environment.
• Support the migration of systems and applications from on-premises to the cloud.
• Collaborate with Cloud Architects and DevOps teams to define and implement migration strategies.
• Configure and manage compute, storage, networking, and identity services in the cloud (Azure / AWS / GCP).
• Automate infrastructure deployment using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Bicep, or CloudFormation).
• Implement monitoring, backup, and disaster recovery solutions for cloud workloads.
• Ensure security, compliance, and performance optimization of cloud systems.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues during migration and build phases.
• Document designs, configurations, and operational procedures.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a System Engineer / Cloud Engineer.
• Strong background in Windows and/or Linux system administration.
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP).
• Solid understanding of networking, identity management, and security principles.
• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code, automation, and CI/CD practices.
• Experience supporting migration or greenfield deployment projects.

• ONSITE POLICY: Brussels (flexible remote working)
• HOURS PER WEEK: 40
• LANGUAGES: English and (Dutch or French)
