NewSpace Technical are seeking a highly skilled and visionary
Senior Systems Engineer
to join a dynamic organisation at the forefront of the global small satellite and space technology market.

In this role, you will play a vital part in designing, integrating, and optimising complex systems that support cutting-edge space missions. You'll take ownership of product engineering and work directly with customers from requirements definition to in-orbit operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Systems Ownership:
    Lead systems engineering activities across the full product lifecycle:- from concept, requirements, and architecture through to integration, testing, and deployment.
  • Requirements & Design:
    Translate user requirements into system architectures, technical specifications, and acceptance criteria, ensuring compliance with mission objectives.
  • Integration & Testing:
    Drive product integration, verification, and validation to ensure systems meet performance and interface requirements.
  • Customer & Stakeholder Engagement:
    Collaborate with clients and internal engineering teams (optical, mechanical, electronics, software) to deliver innovative solutions and provide technical oversight.
  • Process & Continuous Improvement:
    Contribute to process optimisation, systems engineering best practices, and continuous product improvement.
  • Leadership & Mentorship:
    Provide technical leadership and guidance to junior engineers, fostering knowledge sharing and professional development.
  • Risk & Change Management:
    Support fault diagnostics, manage non-conformances, and contribute to engineering change processes.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in embedded software systems using Linux/Unix OS.
  • Extensive experience in Earth observation missions, payloads, and image processing.
  • Strong knowledge of systems engineering principles, supported by formal certifications.
  • Proven ability to lead complex projects from design to deployment.
  • Skilled in requirements management, modelling, and simulation.
  • Familiarity with configuration management systems and MBSE tools.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, multi-site environment with international collaboration.

Desirable:

  • INCOSE Systems Engineering Professional certification.
  • Experience with Siemens Teamcenter PLM tools.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 quality management systems.
