About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Data Visualization Analyst to join our client's data team in Brussels for a high-impact, full-time freelance assignment. You'll be at the forefront of transforming complex data into actionable insights, driving business decisions, and shaping the future of data-driven strategy. As a Data Visualization Analyst, you will be instrumental in migrating legacy reporting systems to Power BI, optimizing data flows, and ensuring data governance. What You'll Be Doing

• Designing and maintaining interactive dashboards, primarily in Power BI, to deliver clear and actionable insights.
• Collaborating with business users to understand their needs and translating them into relevant data visualizations.
• Enhancing and exploiting data sets from ETL processes using Talend, in close partnership with the Data Engineering team.
• Leading the transition of existing reports from Pentaho Report Designer to Power BI.
• Structuring and optimizing data models for visualizations, including tabular modeling and relationship management.
• Driving the adoption and governance of Power BI, establishing best practices, nomenclatures, and workspace management.
• Developing and maintaining conceptual, logical, and physical data models aligned with business needs.
• Engaging with business-side data referents to support model conceptualization and glossary implementation.
• Coaching and supporting development teams in designing high-performance, scalable databases.
• Implementing and optimizing robust, scalable ETL processes.
• Contributing to the evolution of the data platform and developing blueprints with internal and external stakeholders.
• Supporting the implementation and adoption of self-service tools for business users.
• Ensuring data governance, quality, integrity, and security across all data initiatives.

What We're Looking For

• Proven experience (2–5 years minimum) in a similar data visualization or data modeling role within large organizations.
• Expertise in data modeling (conceptual, logical, physical) and data warehouse design (Kimball methodology).
• Advanced proficiency in Power BI, including modeling, DAX, publication, security, and advanced interactions.
• Confirmed experience with Talend for ETL processes and Pentaho for reporting and migration projects.
• Strong SQL skills: writing complex queries, optimization, and modeling (PostgreSQL or similar).
• Experience with data governance, data classification, and ensuring data quality and security.
• Ability to coach and mentor development teams, fostering a culture of high performance and scalability.
• Comfortable working in Agile environments and collaborating with C-level stakeholders.
• Analytical mindset with a keen eye for the visual and functional quality of dashboards.
• Experience with data lakes, data mesh, and enterprise architecture is a plus.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate and clearly explain models and concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience supporting the implementation and adoption of self-service BI tools.
