Senior Internal Auditor – NIS2 Compliance & Cybersecurity Specialist

Location: Brussels (Hybrid/On-site)

Contract Type: Freelance 2-5 days work per week

Duration: Until end of 2026, with extension based on positive evaluation.

We are seeking a seasoned Information Security Specialist to support our client in preparing for NIS2 verification and certification. This role is critical in achieving the NIS2 Basic Security, in line with the CyberFundamentals Framework and the guidelines of the CCB.

Mission Objectives

• Policy & Process Development:
• Assist in setting up and refining security policies and processes in accordance with Art. 30 et seq. of the NIS2 Act, using CCB materials.
• Internal Audit:
• Conduct a comprehensive internal audit to identify and resolve any remaining gaps before formal verification.
• Verification Representation:
• Act as the organisation's representative during the conformity assessment by an accredited body.

Expertise Required

• Deep familiarity with NIS2 legislation and related frameworks (CyFun, ISO27001).
• Minimum 15 years of experience in information security (technical, legal, and organizational).
• Strong knowledge of industrial environments, including OT security.
• Proven experience with:
• Risk analysis and frameworks (ISO2700X, ETSI).
• Disaster recovery and business continuity planning.
• Data breach management and legal reporting.
• Data classification and acceptable use policies.
• Supplier audits (privacy and security).
• Excellent understanding of:
• Authentic sources and their integration.
• Government operations and legal frameworks.
• Demonstrable contacts with supervisory authorities (e.g., DPA, CCB).
• Hands-on experience with technical security measures (network segregation, cryptography, SSL, etc.).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
