Job Description

We are looking for a highly motivated voluntary Communications Officer, passionate about conservation and nature, with strong communication skills and a solid background in the natural sciences. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing content for our social media and digital content strategy, with the aim of increasing public awareness of environmental issues, promoting our initiatives and strengthening our online community.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute content strategies on social networks aligned with the mission and objectives of the organization.
  • Create engaging content for social media such as Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn (posts, infographics, short articles, digital campaigns).
  • Create visual designs and multimedia content in Canva.
  • Prepare clear and accessible summaries of articles, research, and environmental projects.
  • Tailor the content of academic and specialised articles for the general public, children, youth, and adults.
  • Support the writing of newsletters and press releases.
  • Participate in the design and execution of environmental communication strategies.
  • Desirable: production of audiovisual material (photography, videos, basic editing).

Profile:

  • Training or education in Communications or in Natural Sciences, Environmental Sciences, Biology, Ecology, or related fields.
  • Excellent writing and synthesis skills.
  • Creativity and interest in digital communication and environmental education.
  • Good knowledge of social media management.
  • Proficiency in audiovisual design and editing tools.
  • Commitment to the environmental mission and a drive to learn.

Terms and Conditions

This position is to join our team of volunteers who wish to be part of the Embrace the Earth organizational body. Therefore, this is not a paid position. Our volunteers are expected to commit to working remotely 2-3 hours daily, although scheduling is flexible. Ideally, we are looking for volunteers who wish to join us on a long-term basis; however, applications for unpaid internships are also a possibility. The minimum duration of the internship is
6 months.
