The Rademakers lab at the VIB-UAntwerp Center for Molecular Neurology is dedicated to uncovering the genetic and molecular mechanisms underlying frontotemporal lobar degeneration (FTLD) and related neurodegenerative disorders. Our research spans gene discovery, functional genomics, and translational applications, with a particular emphasis on complex genetic mutations such as repeat expansions. We employ cutting-edge technologies including long-read sequencing, single-nuclei multi-omics, and iPSC-derived models to advance our understanding of disease biology and identify novel biomarkers. The lab fosters a collaborative and interdisciplinary environment, bringing together expertise from human genetics, molecular biology, bioinformatics, and clinical neuroscience.
PositionWe are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented lab technician to support our genetic studies. The successful candidate will be responsible for the genetic characterization of our continuously expanding collection of biosamples from neurodegenerative disease patients and healthy controls and will assist with the development and execution of custom genetic assays aimed at novel gene discovery. Routinely used techniques will include nucleic acid extractions, Sanger sequencing, PCR assay optimization and RT-qPCR. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with a dynamic team of PhD students and postdoctoral researchers, contributing to impactful projects at the forefront of neurogenetics.
