Internship Opportunity – Brussels

EU Policy & Advocacy Focal Point (Internship/Volunteer)

Location: Brussels, Belgium (Hybrid)

Working Hours: Part-time or full-time (flexible)

Duration: Minimum 6 months | Compensation: Unpaid (academic credit possible)

The Infectious Disease Alliance (IDA) is recruiting an intern to support our EU policy and advocacy activities. This position offers valuable experience in event organization, stakeholder engagement, and EU health policy, with opportunities to access the European Parliament and contribute directly to shaping policy dialogue on infectious diseases.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the planning and delivery of high-level events (e.g. One Health Conference in the European Parliament)
  • Engaging with EU officials, Members of the European Parliament, and key stakeholders
  • Conducting research on EU health policy and infectious diseases
  • Drafting materials such as policy briefs, newsletters, social media content, and proposals
  • Assisting in advocacy strategy development and grant/project proposals

Profile sought:

  • Enrolled in or graduate of a relevant program (Public Health, Political Science, European Studies, International Relations, Communications)
  • Strong research and writing skills, with the ability to convey complex issues clearly
  • Interest in global health, infectious diseases, and EU policy
  • Knowledge of EU institutions and policy processes
  • Excellent organizational skills; ability to work independently and in teams
  • Proficiency in English; knowledge of other EU languages an asset
