ABOUT THE JOB

We are currently recruiting a Legal Counsel (m/f/x), to enforce our legal department. This person will be based in Antwerp as part of our Central Services team. The Central Services team is located in Antwerp (Belgium), Bussum (the Netherlands), Hamburg and Munich (Germany) and London (the United Kingdom), and consists of more than 50 specialists who are responsible for the legal, reporting, accounting, tax, investor relations, technology and HR functions of Waterland.

What will be
your impact?

The Legal Counsel will:

• Provide legal advice to Waterland team members in Belgium, France and Spain (including in relation to M&A, transaction structuring, corporate governance, compliance, etc.).
• Draft, review and benchmark transaction documentation (SPA, SHA, NDA, etc.).
• Manage relationships with legal advisors.
• Evaluate and advice on business decisions and operations from a fund and (regulated) fund manager perspective.
• Monitor compliance with group policies, and laws and regulations (including AML/KYC, and anti-bribery and corruption).
• Act as portfolio liaison: information sharing and sounding board towards management of portfolio companies with regard to legal topics.
• Assist portfolio management on legal matters.

Be your true self

We are seeking candidates (m/f/x) who can meet the following requirements:

• 3 to 5 years' experience in a legal role in a business environment, including a business law firm.
• Excellent knowledge and understanding of corporate law (including M&A).
• Comprehension of the regulatory framework of private equity would be an asset.
• High degree of professional ethics and integrity.
• Sound judgement and ability to analyse situations and information.
• Outstanding communication skills.
• Fluent in French and Dutch with excellent proficiency in English.
• Master's degree in law with excellent degrees (additional education abroad and/or advanced master's in Corporate/Business/Tax Law is a plus).

A down-to-earth and open team player, having good communication skills, decisiveness, a creative yet pragmatic attitude, initiative-driven, curious and passionate.

Well-organized, hands-on, proactive, detail-oriented, ability to multi-task, commercial mindset, and work to tight deadlines.
