About This Role
We are seeking an accomplished Director of Public Affairs to drive MedTech Europe's strategic engagement with European policy makers and other stakeholders. Reporting to the Director General for Corporate Affairs, this senior role offers the opportunity to shape policy positions, build influential partnerships, and position the medtech industry as a trusted leader in healthcare and beyond.
This is a pivotal role for an experienced professional who can navigate complex political environments, build consensus among diverse stakeholders, and translate policy developments into actionable organisational strategy. You'll lead a team of 4 Affairs Policy experts while working in close partnership with our Communications team and across our association membership.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Stakeholder Engagement
- Develop and execute comprehensive and coordinated public affairs strategies
- Build and maintain relationships with key policymakers, regulators, and stakeholders
- Lead coalition building and other industry associations’ engagement
- Team leadership
- Build a strong team culture building
- Ensure agile internal processes, in particular on horizontal topics
- Cross-Departmental Policy Support
- Provide government affairs expertise to other policy departments
- Facilitate internal policy alignment and messaging consistency
- Direct Policy Leadership
- Own and lead specific policy portfolios and on core horizontal issues (e.g. competitiveness)
- Drive strategic positions on assigned legislative/regulatory matters
- Represent MTE as primary spokesperson on designated topics
- Monitoring & Intelligence
- Manage & coordinate MTE relationships with stakeholders
- Monitor legislative and regulatory developments affecting the industry
Profile:
Education
- Degree in political science, economics, law, or a closely related field
Experience
- Minimum 10 years of professional experience in European public affairs, with 3+ years in senior leadership roles
- Strong experience addressing regulatory and policy matters ideally related to healthcare/life sciences
- Proven track record interacting with EU and national policymakers, regulatory bodies, and key stakeholders
- Demonstrated experience crafting and executing impactful policy/advocacy strategies

- Proven ability to represent organisational interests in high-stakes policy environments
Strategic & Communication Skills
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills for diverse European audiences
- Ability to translate complex EU policy developments into actionable business insights
- Experience providing strategic advisory services to senior leadership and membership organisations
- Strong analytical skills for assessing European political landscapes
- Multilingual capabilities essential for effective European engagement
