KNITWEAR DEVELOPER

Christian Wijnants is an Antwerp-based luxury womenswear label, founded in 2003. Renowned for innovative knitwear, hand-drawn prints, and richly textured jacquards, the brand presents four collections each year and is carried in over 100 retailers worldwide. We are now seeking a full-time Knitwear Developer to strengthen our creative team. 

JOB DESCRIPTION

As a knitwear developer you will be working closely with the designer to create the knitwear collections from yarn selection, stitch development to proto-type. You will be responsible for collection development & production follow up until PSS stage, on all knitwear collections.

 YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

• Yarn sourcing / selection and pricing
• Make mood boards and inspiration for knitwear collection
• Purchasing yarn for sampling, while managing collection budgets
• Development of Stitch & jacquard drawings by hand and computer
• Shape and style development with technical communication to producers
• Attend fittings and communicate changes on proto-types to producers
• Manage deadlines & collection planning, prepare collection plans per producer
• Assist with show preparations during Paris fashion week, and visit Pitti Filati fair.
• Follow up production changes after sales period, check pre-production samples & pre-shipment samples, follow up communication during full production cycle.

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE (or PROFILE) 

• Bachelor’s degree in Textile or Fashion Design
• Technical background in knitwear development
• 2-3 years of professional experience in a similar position within a high-end luxury company
• Good knowledge of InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator
• Basic knowledge of Excel
• Skilled to make technical drawings by hand
• Technical skills to develop trials using hand-knitting machines, hand knitting and crochet. 
• Strong communication skills in English, written & spoken
• Drivers license B is a plus
