The role:

Are you an ambitious Junior Software Developer eager to tackle challenging data problems at scale? Do you have a passion for building robust, scalable solutions and a keen interest in leveraging AI to enhance software development? If so, we want to hear from you!

We are seeking a motivated individual to join our agile team, where you will work on sophisticated applications processing hundreds of millions of records every month. You'll be instrumental in developing and maintaining critical data pipelines, utilising cutting-edge AI-assisted development tools to accelerate delivery and build resilient systems.

What You'll Do:

• Build and maintain Python-based ETL pipelines and services.
• Write optimised SQL queries across large datasets, ensuring efficient data processing.
• Leverage AI developer tools (e.g., Cursor, Windsurf) to accelerate your development workflow.
• Integrate APIs, including OpenAI and other best-in-class inference engine, e.g. Cerebras/Groq, to implement features like unstructured data analysis, embeddings and search capabilities.
• Deploy and monitor applications in our own data center and dedicated cloud environments (e.g. Hetzner).
• Collaborate effectively within a dynamic, agile team.

What You Bring:

• Strong Python skills, including experience with parallel computing, asynchronous programming, and testing.
• A good command of SQL and an understanding of query optimisation techniques for large datasets.
• Demonstrated experience using AI-driven IDEs and copilot tools in your daily work.
• Knowledge and interest in open weight AI models, with first experience leveraging LLM fine tuning for data applications.
• Familiarity with data orchestration tools such as Airflow, Prefect, or Dagster.
• Solid communication skills in English, essential for clear and direct collaboration in a team setting.

Bonus Points:

• Interest in Rust or other high-performance languages.
• Exposure to vector search and AI tooling (e.g., Pinecone, Chroma).
• First experiences with containerisation and infrastructure as code (Docker, Docker Swarm, Terraform).
• Dashboarding or visualisation skills (e.g., Streamlit, Superset).
