Generative AI Engineer

CBSButler are partnered with a leading international technology consulting firm who are seeking an experienced freelance Generative AI Engineer to join their AI & Data Solutions practice. This team is at the forefront of delivering custom Large Language Model (LLM) solutions for highly regulated markets, including investment banking, insurance, and hedge funds.

This will be a 12 month contract, and we can pay up to €950 per day for senior experienced engineers, and this will be hybrid working, requiring one or two days a week on site in Brussels.

This is a rare opportunity to work on cutting edge AI projects where compliance and security expertise are paramount. You’ll be designing and building bespoke generative AI systems that are fully aligned with financial regulations, data privacy laws, and enterprise security standards.

Please see below for what you'll be doing:

• Working on custom LLM Development: Fine tuning and optimising LLMs for financial and insurance specific use cases.
• Enterprise Integration: Implement retrieval augmented generation (RAG) pipelines and integrate models with proprietary datasets.
• Regulatory Compliance: Ensure models adhere to relevant regulations (GDPR, MiFID II, Basel III, Solvency II) and internal governance frameworks.
• Collaboration: Partner with financial consultants, data engineers, and compliance teams to align solutions with business and regulatory needs.

Required Skills & Experience

• Proven track record working with LLM frameworks for example: Hugging Face, LangChain, LlamaIndex, OpenAI API
• Strong experience with Python, PyTorch or TensorFlow, and modern NLP pipelines.
• Hands on experience with RAG architectures, embeddings, and vector databases e.g. Pinecone, Weaviate, Milvus etc.
• Understanding of model governance, bias mitigation, explainable AI, and secure AI deployment.

Nice to Have

• Experience with synthetic data generation for safe model training
• Familiarity with RLHF Reinforcement Learning from Human Feedback
• Knowledge of financial data modelling or risk management analytics
• Advanced quant degree MSc/PhD in AI, ML, Computer Science, or related field
• Familiarity with cloud AI services and MLOps tools
