Terminal Manager
My client is a leading international logistics service provider supporting engineering, port activities, and chemical logistics
We are urgently seeking a Terminal Manager to oversee day-to-day operations and ensure the safe, efficient, and cost-effective running of the terminal. This role is key to maintaining operational excellence, safety compliance, customer satisfaction, and continuous process improvement.
We also welcome applications from experienced terminal professionals ready to step into a management role and training will be provided.
Key Responsibilities:
Terminal Operations:
- Oversee daily terminal activities including vessel loading/unloading, cargo storage, and equipment utilization (cranes, forklifts, etc.).
- Coordinate ship arrivals and departures to ensure safe and timely cargo handling.
Safety & Compliance:
- Enforce safety protocols and ensure full compliance with international and national maritime and environmental regulations (e.g. ISPS, SOLAS).
- Host audits and manage hazardous substance handling and waste procedures.
Team Leadership:
- Manage and support dockworkers, supervisors, and admin teams.
- Oversee hiring, training, performance reviews, and team development.
- Logistics & Stock Management:
- Supervise inbound/outbound logistics and stock control.
- Optimize storage space and monitor goods movement.
Customer Service & Quality Control:
- Ensure efficient goods transit and high service quality.
- Address complaints and continuously improve customer satisfaction.
Cost Control & Resource Efficiency:
- Monitor operational costs and implement cost-saving measures.
- Maximize use of assets and minimize downtime.
Planning & Coordination:
- Develop operational schedules and collaborate with internal departments (e.g. Sales, IT, ISPS, Facilities).
- Ensure timely documentation and communication across teams.
Reporting & Performance Monitoring:
- Track KPIs (e.g. lead time, handling times, cost).
- Prepare reports for senior management and implement improvement initiatives.
- Conduct risk assessments and apply mitigation strategies.
Requirements:
- 5+ years' experience in terminal operations, with team leadership exposure
- Familiarity with CEPA staff management and maritime logistics
- Strong focus on safety, structure, and KPIs
- Analytical mindset with hands-on, solution-oriented approach
- Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills
- Motivated to be present on-site and immersed in terminal operations
- Fluent in Dutch & French
