Technical Project Manager – Safety & Building Management Systems (BMS)


Internal position (Vast contract-CDI)


Location: Brussels, Belgium

Sector: Public Transport / Infrastructure

Contract Type: internal

Languages: Fluent in Dutch or French with a strong command of the other national language; excellent English.




About the Role




As a Technical Project Manager (BMS), you will drive the successful delivery of complex IT and infrastructure projects related to building management systems. You will work closely with internal teams and customers, ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.


You will join the Safety & Building Management Systems team and report directly to your Team Lead. This department handles high-impact projects in areas such as fire detection, CCTV, access control, intrusion detection, network systems, and parking solutions—often with budgets exceeding €1 million.


Your first major assignment will involve leading a technical rollout for our client



Key Responsibilities


1. Project Planning & Initiation

  • Define high-level scope, budget, and timeline during the study phase.
  • Validate technical solutions and cost estimates with experts.
  • Prepare and review technical proposals in line with customer security policies.


2. Technical Study & Solution Design

  • Draft detailed designs compliant with relevant standards and risk assessments.
  • Specify functional requirements for new or replacement systems (CCTV, intrusion detection, fire alarms, etc.).
  • Review and validate supplier quotations.


3. Project Execution

  • Translate high-level plans into detailed scopes and kick-off with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Monitor project performance against KPIs, budget, and timeline.
  • Identify risks and issues, escalate appropriately, and coordinate solutions.


4. Governance & Reporting

  • Ensure timely, clear communication with stakeholders, including customers and management.
  • Deliver monthly project status reports and financial overviews.
  • Manage change requests and ensure approvals via formal steering committees.


5. Delivery & Handover

  • Represent the customer during final delivery.
  • Oversee knowledge transfer to operations and support teams.
  • Ensure all documentation and training are completed.


6. Coordination & Oversight

  • Maintain an overview of all running projects.
  • Foster a positive, collaborative team environment.
  • Support audits and ensure compliance.


7. Framework Contract Management

  • Draft technical specifications and evaluate supplier proposals.
  • Act as the primary contact for vendors under framework agreements.
  • Stay updated on new developments in the safety & security market.


8. Third-Line Support

  • Provide senior-level intervention during critical incidents.
  • Analyze issues and coordinate appropriate resolutions.


Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in Building Management Systems (BMS)
  • 5+ years of experience in technical project management
  • Strong knowledge of BMS applications and related technologies
  • Proven experience with studies, budgeting, and framework contracts
  • Public sector experience is a plus
  • Working knowledge of PM², PMBOK preferred; Prince2 and ITIL certifications are assets
  • BA4, BA5, and VCA certifications are an advantage
  • Strong time management, communication, and problem-solving skills
