Job description

To live up to our potential, we are seeking a skilled, experienced and enthusiastic

scientist to join our startup in biodiscovery/preclinical phase. As a scientist, you will

play a pivotal role in driving our in vivo/(in vitro) research and development efforts

in hypoxia and cancer biology. The ideal candidate possesses strong communication

skills, is detail-oriented and can manage early projects.


Responsibilities

• Foster a creative, innovative, and transparent environment + contributing new

ideas and initiating/driving research projects aligned with the company

strategy.

• (Co)lead in vivo research projects, independently design and execute

experiments to develop and optimize in vivo assays for the evaluation of

compound efficacy and toxicity.

• Collaborate in the in vitro compound characterization leading to the first in

vivo studies. Develop inhouse tests to evaluate in vivo studies

• Assess and determine the most appropriate experimental approaches to

generate meaningful and actionable results and assist in making go/no-go

decisions during proof-of-concept (POC) studies + evaluating the feasibility

and potential of new projects.

• Analyze and interpret experimental data, generate reports, and present

findings to internal/external stakeholders

• Work closely with external partners, such as contract research organizations

(CROs) or academic partnerships, to facilitate efficient collaborations.


Qualifications

PhD in a relevant field (e.g., Biomedical Sciences, Pharmaceutical Sciences,

Biotechnology or related disciplines) or/and or extensive experience (+6

years) in a research and development role within the biotech/pharmaceutical

industry with a strong in vivo focus.


Holder of a FELASA C certificate


Expertise in:

  • Mouse handling, drug administration (IV/IP/SC) and organ/blood

sampling.

  • Designing, executing and interpreting in vivo studies (toxicology,

biodistribution, efficacy/proof-of-concept)

  • Writing ethical files and reporting to the Ethical Committee
  • Participate in writing, submission and identification of Grant

Applications and R&D Funding.


Background in cancer biology, hypoxia and/or in vivo oncology models is

considered a plus.


Efficient communication skills, both written and verbal, to easily convey

complex scientific concepts and collaborate with internal and external

stakeholders.


Ability to work independently, take ownership of projects, and drive them to

completion.
