A leading pharmaceutical manufacturing site is seeking a skilled Project Engineer to join its engineering team in Verviers, Belgium. This facility plays a vital role in delivering high-quality products while maintaining operational excellence, safety, and sustainability. The role focuses on delivering CAPEX projects and implementing process improvements that enhance plant capacity, efficiency, and product quality, while ensuring compliance with environmental, health, and safety standards.

Job Description

As a Project Engineer, you will be responsible for the preparation, execution, and validation of major projects and process improvements, typically ranging from 0.2M to 2M CHF in budget. You will manage multiple projects simultaneously, from scope definition and contractor selection to commissioning and project closure. This position requires close collaboration with internal stakeholders, contractors, and suppliers to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Define project scope, functional requirements, and specifications.
• Conduct market investigations to identify suitable technologies.
• Prepare detailed engineering documentation and select contractors.
• Establish budgets, secure approvals, and manage project administration.
• Oversee contractor work, equipment purchases, and on-site activities.
• Monitor budget performance, ensuring cost control and accountability.
• Manage quality, safety, and environmental aspects of projects.
• Oversee commissioning, start-up, and validation of new systems.
• Produce technical documentation, “as built” files, and operational procedures.
• Ensure adequate training for operational teams.
• Organize and lead stakeholder meetings, actively participate in project teams.
• Conduct process analysis and experiments to identify improvements in quality, output, or cost.
• Recommend and implement approved improvements in cooperation with production, maintenance, and engineering teams.
• Advise management on priorities for process and project engineering studies.

Essential Requirements:

• University degree in Industrial Engineering (Mechanical, Electromechanical) or equivalent.
• 5–10 years of advanced project management experience.
• Proven ability to manage multiple CAPEX projects from concept to completion.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work autonomously.
• Adaptable and able to thrive in changing environments.
• Fluent in English and French.
• Ideally based near Verviers.

Desirable Qualifications:

• Experience in industrial manufacturing environments.
• Knowledge of environmental, health, and safety regulations.
• Familiarity with engineering project validation processes.
